Need a Boost to Achieve a Goal or Dream?

Conquer your fear

good girlfriends

You have a dream.

Maybe it’s to lose weight or get a job. Maybe a European vacation or to learn a new language. Perhaps to start a business? Maybe to marry before the age of 30 or re-married by 50? Or simply, to exercise everyday.

Goals and dreams swim around inside our heads continuously. While swimming around, negative thoughts beat them up and push them down. Thoughts such as, “I’ll start tomorrow…” or “I’ll get going once the kids go to school.” The thought intrusions continue while your goals and dreams fight to survive. Sadly, as we get older the goals and dreams give up.

Bruised and weary, they dissolve into the past.

Pretty brutal.

I used to think if I thought or read about the goal it would happen. Somehow just by thinking or reading about how to lose weight, I would lose weight.

It didn’t work.

I would try to achieve the goal by doing something else. For example, if I buy a new wardrobe the business opportunity would present itself.

It didn’t work.

Kinda warped thinking on my part isn’t it?

Well, no. I found out it’s completely a normal human thing to do. HOWEVER, I learned why I did those things and changed. How?

Here’s the answer.

It’s normal to procrastinate on your goals and dreams. Everyone does it. Now that you know you’re normal, let’s move on to how to change.

There is one thing that is keeping you from your goals and dreams.

Fear.

Fear of what your friends might say.
Fear of failing.
Fear of what your family might say.
Fear of change.
Fear of whatever your brain is coming up with to distract you…

The only way to conquer fear is to face it. You can think all you want and keep yourself busy doing other things while your goals and dreams die or you can get off your butt.

How?

Write the word “FEAR” on a piece of paper and rip it up and throw it away.
Look in the mirror, and say, “I’m not afraid anymore.”
Think of a time you overcame a fear and remember how it felt when you did.
Think, “Any negative comments I get aren’t about me. It’s about the person saying them.”
Surround yourself with people who support you, and ignore the ones that don’t.

But honestly? Just look fear in the face and say to yourself…

“I can do this.”
“I deserve this.”
“I’m smart enough to figure it out.”
“I’m stronger than I think I am.”
“I’m worth it.”
“I’m worth it.”
“I’m worth it.”

And never, never, ever, give up on yourself. Why?

You’re worth it.
