Every night, all around the world, parents unite in the quest to get their children to sleep. Kids have reasons or shall we say excuses they use to stay up a little longer.
Here are 10 common excuses delivered by kids under the age of 12. We don’t include teenagers; as they require a list of their own for reasons why not to wake up.
Top Ten:
I’m thirsty.
There is a noise outside my window, under the bed or in the closet.
We didn’t read a book. (After you’ve read four books)
I have to go to the bathroom. (See above #1)
I’m hungry.
How come I have to go to sleep when you don’t have to go to sleep?
My ______ hurts. (Fill in blank with anything you can imagine.)
I’m scared. Can you come sit with me?
Mom? Why do tigers have stripes? (Fill in any obscure question here.)
I’m hot or I’m cold.
Some nights we hear five excuses, some nights only one or maybe even none. Either way, if you look at the reasons really close, you’ll see what wonderful opportunities they are to connect with your red eyed little person just one more time before another day has gone by. Happy tucking in tonight!
